These beans were first raised by Spanish settlers in the 1500's along the Rio Grande River. My original seed came from Rose Trujillo of Nambe Pueblo. Bolita is a smaller oval bean used in a variety of traditional dishes where it's rich flavor is accented by the hot, green chiles and fiery red sauces of Northern New Mexico. The plants are about 16 inches tall and covered with light brown pods. Help continue a long tradition by planting this special bean in your garden.
