Early, drought-tolerant and beautiful, this easily-grown heirloom corn is worth a try. More than an ornamental, it can be eaten fresh, ground, or roasted, and it makes a highly nutritious flour for tortillas and cornmeal muffins. The sturdy 5 foot stalks each bear two slender 6-8 inch ears. The husks are often a deep purple and the kertnels a rainbow of colors. The corn is ready to eat in 70 days. Dave Christensen of Big Timber, Montana continues to work to develop this variety.
