Lion's Tail

  • Model: packet

This striking and very unusual plant sends up one flower head after another, shooting up over ten feet. Each bristling cone puts out a continuous spray of flame orange petals over a number of weeks and the whole display goes until frost. The plant is said to have medicinal value as well, and the sweet petals are used to make teas. I have saved some seed this year, but it may not last long. The seed can be direct sowed once the weather warms, and the flower stalks begin their magic in July. Small seed and plenty in a packet.
