Also known as the rattle chile, this is one of the Mirasol cultivars of the species Capsicum annuum. It is globe-shaped, 2 1/2 inches in diameter and ripens in about 90 days on a tall woody plant. The plants are very productive. I'll pick 25 or more off a single bush. The strain I have is unusual in that it turns from green to a dazzling red rather than the more common and subdued brown. The fruit is thin-skinned, so it dries easily and makes a great medium hot and spicy-sweet chile powder. Of course they also make great rattles. A full packet contains about 40 seeds so you can grow several rows.
