A dark green, slender, thin-walled pepper that is used in soups,
vegetable dishes, tamales, quesadillas and salsas. Pasilla chiles turn a
dark brown when fully ripe and are sometimes called "chiles negros"
when they are dried. In their dried form they are
often used in mole sauces where their spicy flavor with undertones of
dark chocolate supplies a bit of heat. I would rate them mild to medium
hot. A packet contains 40 seeds guaranteed to germinate.
