$5.25

Pod corn is grown as an ornamental and used in harvest displays. Not much is known about the origin of this unusual plant. At one time it was thought to be the ancient ancestor of modern corn, but it more likely appeared later as a spontaneous mutation. In any case it is beautiful. The 7 foot stalks bear each bear at least two ears. I have been selecting for the deep red husks with red stalks. However, there is a good deal of variation from deep purple to red checkered to earth tones and harvest golds and even pure whites. The flags on the kernels also vary in extent. It is grown like regular corn and ready in about 90 days. This is a sale of seed only. 60-70 seeds per packet, 150 in a field packet
